valid for SP3:
5X Cavity Cycles:
Setup tab
Advanced 5X: Advanced 5X
Only if you activate this option, all available strategies (Manual curve, Radial Z and Offset curve) are activated in the 5 Axes tab.
Otherwise only the strategies Fixed and Automatic. By default the function is not activated.
5X Multiblade Cycles
5X MB Roughing / MB Hub Finishing
Strategy tab (only MB Roughing)
Milling strategy: Flow
Using this strategy, depth infeed is flow, see finishing of blades in Point Milling. As roughing is an exact premachining of a following finishing, this kind of machining has advantages especially for the machining of multiblades, where alternating roughing and finishing operations in several passes proceed.
Infeed strategy: Zigzag flow next
Compared to Zigzag flow, where up- and downward paths of a pocket from inside to outside are helical connected, here paths are meander shaped connected (with the directly next path). Advantages: less movements of rotary- and linear-axes.
5 Axes tab
Avoidance strategy: Camberline
This option is activating a new strategy of collision avoidance, which is dominantly realised perpendicular to the middle of the pocket. Advantage of this method is, that you can possibly use tools, which utilise the small cavity in a better way. Thereby you can realise less machining time and higher parameter values.
Avoidance strategy: Around Z
With this option, the up to now behaviour is activated, where collision avoidance is dominantly realised by pivoting of Z-axis. Advantage: very simple movement of the tool, which can lead to constant speed of rotary axes.
MB Point Milling
Strategy tab:
Pocket mode: Activate
Alternatively to the known continuous machining around the selected (main) blade, here machining of the main blades within the pocket is realised by machining of the right blade surface of the left blade and the left blade surface of the right neighbour blade in one operation. Advantage: reducing of vibrations in the neighbour pockets.
5 Axes tab:
Avoidance strategy: Camberline
This option is activating a new strategy of collision avoidance, which is dominantly realised perpendicular to the middle of the pocket. Advantage: you can possibly use tools, which utilise the small cavity in a better way.
Edge behaviour: Min. angle - leading edge / trailing edge
Now you can define a separate angle for boths edges. Thereby you can better accommodate different edge shapes.
Intermediate angle down / Intermediate angle up: Angle to Z / ISO position (from leading/from trailing)
When using avoidance strategy around Z, for downward movements and/other upward movements at the most critical position (normally between the main blade and the leading edge splitter blade) you can additionally define an intermediate position by specifying an ISO parameter, for which the tool should have a defined angle to Z axis. Advantage: you can possibly use tools, which utilise the small cavity in a better way. Thereby you can realise less machining time and higher parameter values.
Macro tab:
Link macro: Split paths
When using 4axes machining, continuous machining around the blade can be splitted automatically at both edges and newly merged with an additional macro. Advantage: You can use tapered tools on 4axes machines, which would damage the edges, in continuously circulating machining mode. Thereby you can realise less machining time and higher parameter values.
Setup tab:
Check tool: Neighbour clearance
This parameter enables to consider the additional offset of the (possibly not machined) neighbour (blade). Collisions with non-cutting tool elements can be definitely avoid.
Check tool: Edge tolerance
When using the Split paths and 4X machining options, you can define a separate tolerance for collision check of the edge. This allows it to increase tapering of tools additionally.
Area Call-ID Description
32593 No more saving of wrong data, when working in modal mode and opening a model while another model is already open. The lastly opened model will be closed and can be loaded again, not until hyperMILL is restarted. Also the model already open, is closed and saved as backup

3. Kown issues
2D Contour milling
Application of Chamfer Cutters
The definition of nominal diameters lower than 0.001 mm or lower than 0.0001 inch may lead to issues regarding cutter compensation. Please avoid the definition of such diameters.
Drilling cycles
(Contours tab)
Despite of activated collision check, currently the tool is not collision checked during rapid movements. Only the tool holder is checked. Therefore all axial rapid movements have to be checked for tool collisions
by simulation.
Supported tool types
hyperMILL supports the tool types in accordance with the delivered manual only. All other tool types (like angular tools, knives etc.) are not supported.
Feedrates
All feedrates defined in hyperMILL relate to the tool reference point (center or tip). The feedrates related to the several axis may differ from the one defined by the user. In general any parametric output of feedrates is not designed.
